Just to get us off on the right foot, here are some posting guidelines to keep in mind when you post on the Fiber Arts forum:
Please, don't post images of the work of other artists unless you have their permission to do so and give full credit; links, on the other hand, are fine.
2. Credit where it's due:
If you used a pattern to create a work you're posting, please give credit to the creator/manufacturer/publisher of the pattern or the book the pattern appeared in. If you were inspired by work done by another artist, it would also be good karma to give that person credit for the inspiration.
3.Consider using the search feature:
You may find searching our archives helpful. If you have a question about something that might have been asked before, you may find that a quick search will provide the answer. There is a "Search This Forum" heading link located in the upper-right corner, just below the page numbers, so it's always available even if you're looking at page 2 or 4 or 8; this search will automatically restrict itself to the Fiber Arts forum. Click on the "Advanced Search" link in the pop-up if you would like to restrict your search to a given range of dates, a specific member's posts, or to see what other WetCanvas forums might have on the topic.
If the search does not provide the information that you are seeking, or if you need more detail, please feel free to start a thread!
4. We want info!
When you post an image of your work, please give us plenty of information on the type(s) of fiber or textile you used, method of construction (e.g., crochet, herringbone weave, etc.), the size or dimensions of the finished item (inches or centimeters is fine, just say which), kinds of embellishments (and whether you made them yourself), and anything else you think other fiber artists might want to know.
Need help getting your image posted?
Using the Uploader & Attachment Features:
Clicking on Post Reply
gives you the broadest options for your response and loading images.
When inserting images, please use the uploader if possible, so that your picture is shown in a large size rather than a thumbnail. Uploaded images also are preferred because they can be seen when replying to a thread by scrolling down, whereas attached images cannot be seen when replying. The file attachment feature shows a thumbnail on many screens that must be clicked on to see a larger image.
Please refrain from linking to pictures off site as well because, if your website goes down or the images are removed from the site for any reason, they no longer show up in the thread here at Wet Canvas, rendering the thread (or post) and its comments useless.
Please resize your picture before uploading, it makes the process much quicker.
The size limit allowed for images on WetCanvas! is 800 by 800 pixels. However, images posted that are larger than the 600 pixels high make viewing difficult as many members will only be able see part of it and will have to scroll the screen. Please help keep WC! user-friendly by using these features.
5. Start a new thread for your own work.
Generally, it's not considered good nettiquette to post images of your work in a thread started by someone else to show off his/her work, so please do feel free to start your own thread to let us see what you've been making. The exception would be an omnibus thread where everyone's invited to post images of what they're working on right now, for example, or a periodic "what's going on?" thread.
Thanks! With your help, we can make the Fiber Arts forum a vital and healthy one!
