RIL Technical Issues/Problems Thread

If you are having problems with uploading photographs, or other issues that you may have in the RIL, please place them here.

Not a problem uploading images, no, but a problem nevertheless.

What happened was that I clicked the upload button and went off for a bit while three images took their time getting on board. Next I know is that they've successfully emplaned and taken off into the wild blue yonder without any tags or description or cataloguing whatsoever.

Please can something be done about stopping them before they come on show with some compromising label on them?

Mithila I just checked your photos for the last 3 days and you do not have any recent submissions. I suspect what has happened is that the images disappeared, never to be seen again.

I know as I was doing two test loads a couple of days ago and they totally disappeared too. I suggest you try to upload them again. The server has been fixed, so you shouldn't have any issue with it and the images should come through. If they do not, let me know please and we will get on it with the help of admin. Thanks.

Just wanted to THANK the team who's reorganizing the library! Adding many more specific categories is incredibly helpful. Makes finding what one is looking for so much easier.

Thank you for noticing. We (pinkrybns, Charlie's Mum & myself) are still at it but many of the folders have been overhauled and reorganized. We are hoping that it will make more sense to users and make the finding of that perfect photo just a little bit easier.

Hello Carol,..i just uploaded a couple Halloween still life pics, and i was looking at my reference picture gallery, and noticed a small bird picture in my gallery that i don't remember taking at all?,..i did have a bird picture in my gallery but its not the same one,..the key words look right and everything though,..is there some way it got crossed with another picture in the gallery? ...also i second what Li said..i really like the changes in the photo gallery,..makes things much easier to search.keep up the great work!

Hi Jim,

I just looked at your gallery of RIL images and that bird has to be your image. There is no way that your name would show on someone else's image file, or vice versa - that simply can't happen to any files in the RIL.

Hi Judy,..i'm really confused

at how this happened, because i sat and stared at the picture hoping i could remember taking it, i noticed 'scoller 's post 3rd thread from the bottom had the same thing happen,..ive never taken any pictures anywhere but inside,..and in the back yard,..and i dont have any trees at all in the backyard which has a wall around it and gravel instead of grass...although there is a stubborn patch of grass that wont go away

. .so its impossible for me to have taken that picture even if it was a picture i forgot about because of the small tree looking thing?,,the single bird picture i posted was from inside looking out a window towards a bird feeder and much closer up shot of a blueish-rust color bird..and the title was simply 'bird' as best i can remember.the title is right..but picture is a totally different bird...the only reason im worried about it is because i dont want someone else to think im trying to take credit for their picture,.as scoller mentioned its probably just a small computer glitch,..all of the other pictures are fine,..but just to avoid possible confusion with anyone..is there anyway you can delete that one?..i love the image library and id never bug you guys unless it was something i was really really sure of.

Hmm, how odd, I agree!

Yes, it is possible for me to delete that image, but can I ask, may I leave it there for a few days so I can get Karyn (the WC! Administrator) to have a look at this glitch? If I remove it, she won't be able to see it anymore.

Would you mind if I leave it for a bit? I will notify Karyn of this problem, have her see it and then we'll remove the image. I do understand your concerns.

Sorry this happened and it is indeed very odd!

sure , feel free to leave it there as long as you guys need too,..i know zero about computers,so ill help any way i can .its dated the same day i took some pictures of my dog, which i cant be 100% sure of..but i dont think i took the bird picture the same day but the date for the dogs pictures look right cause i posted them all together..if that helps any?..i went looking for the bird picture i took hoping i could find it on someone elses gallery but no luck so far, the key words all come up for just that picture?..

Hi Jim,

Just to let you know that Karyn has seen the image of the bird and is looking into the odd glitch. She gave me approval to remove the image, so I did just that.... it's gone.

Hi, thanks from me also for organziing the library. I have been trying to upload some pictures, landscape pictures from Montana trip. When I tried the first time, they appeared to upload, then the screen just went back to normal. Don't see them. Then I tried to upload just one pictures and it went through fine, so tried again and, again it appeared that they uploaded, (I didn't sit watching the computer), but they are still not posted. Does it take several days to approve them? or am I doing something wrong. Appreciate any ideas about this.
