Absinthe Dreams
It's been a long while since I've posted anything (...it's been a long while since I've touched my Wacom, for that matter). So here's my latest (spun from the whole absinthe, green fairy genre):
Update: I just realized, with the line work, I guess this doesn't count as "painter's alley" material, but I don't know how to move it...

Re: Absinthe Dreams
No need to move this, drawing counts in this forum as well as painting. It's the linework that give this piece it's energy. It's reminiscent of a classical piece, but I can't put my finger on the painter or title. Nice work!

Re: Absinthe Dreams
Thanks everybody!
I draw a lot of influence from the Expressionists and Edvard Munch in particular. So the line work and the actual painting tend to tie together a lot for me.

Re: Absinthe Dreams
This is so real to the "Moulin Rouge" sequence in the beginning of the movie where the writer is first introduced to absinthe. I just love this piece. It also reminds me of the scene by the river in "Oh God where art thou?" where the sirens lure the men to a debauchery of wine and regret. Or as a recoverring alky myself maybe it just brought back some of those far back memories...this piece pleaseth thine eyes.

Re: Absinthe Dreams
Thanks!
Well, time to come clean...
The piece was a byproduct of a crazy night of poetry and art for me. I spent most of it drinking absinthe and fell asleep. The dreams were a little odd (as I've notice the absinthe dreams to be) and as such...I felt this work produced a decent representation of that moment that sleep and dream met.

Sadly, no. That stuff's expensive!
