first time to sell paintings

O.K.! I have a few paintings I have completed, could more experienced painters please tell me how the system works if I want to "present" my paintings to and art gallery? (i.e., the ins and outs...protocol?)
Do all galleries work on consignment?

I'm no expert, but I just got a great, no-nonsence book about what you're asking. It's called, "How to Get Hung" by Molly Barnes. As a beginner, a young mother and not living in a major city, it's a tad bit discouraging for me. But you'll find some great insight about what galleries are looking for. Hope it helps.
