I was fortunate to keep company with this painting for a day, with Pauline continually setting it aside, and me then propping it back up on the chair so I could look at it . . lucky between the two of us it wasn't destroyed. Kept me company with a cup of conversation and quiet thoughts. Haven't anything to add except the painting is even more beautiful in person.

There were so many other paintings that could easily have taken out the Award.... I think it was my model's attitude and the exsquisite expression on her face (which is exactly what inspired me to paint this in the first place) that must have given me the edge. Thank you Vik... .... you're brilliant!

What a surprise to see this thread pop back up. And what a great entrance you've made to the forum.
I love the cool skintones and the likeness is very good...and I should know .

Plenty of strong areas here...the knees being a particularly striking bit...and the play of light is very nice too.

Usually I like to be very picky but the only thing I can find here to question is the blue stripe in the sofa, just under Vik's feet.

As soon as I saw the thread had popped back up I called Vik over...and she think's the painting is really strong too. So she saw your thanks first hand.

What are the support and media...and what size?

thank you for the gracious critique! this is an oil painting on primed masonite measuring 17.5 x 18 inches. we've got sunshine today(!) so i've attached a better shot. i love the way cerulean works with the umbers & siennas, so because of the lighter palette i added a couple of dabs!
