This is a great "feel good" piece, David! You're going to get me pulling out those caseins again in no time! I love the emotional impact of this one, and the variations of the textures.

wow yeah! Obviously a master of the medium.

Would you tell us some things about your process pls?
The paper: is that WC paper?
Do you prefer casein to gouache or tempera?

Ketze, this particular piece is on a fairly thin cotton rag paper mounted to hardboard. I'm always experimenting with different papers. There's a Canson paper called Montval Acrylic that I like, and a specialty paper Multimedia Artboard that holds up really well.

This one has a bit more carefully traced details in graphite than how I normally work, just because of the small details and lines of the chair that I wanted to keep.

I used a bit of a gold tone underpainting wash on this one that I sealed with shellac to keep from mixing into the top layers. Paint thinned with emulsion was used in the grass area to help give a more translucent texture.

Casein is my favorite water-based media, but I'm quite fond of gouache as well. I've not made any egg tempera paintings in a long time, but I've used it in oil emulsions.

Beautiful painting!

This painting really demonstrates the wonderful, alive qualities that are unique to Caseins. I really enjoyed looking at this painting, it made my heart smile.

Now, where can I get hold of Multimedia Artboard? It's been on my list for months, but I haven't had any luck finding it.

Eileen, I stumbled across the stuff browsing a mall. Picked it up in a Hobby-Lobby chain store, and bought a few large sheets. Jerry's Artarama lists it, as does ASW and Blick.
