Saved

This one was saved from entering the pile of 'the unfinished' at about midnight when I had an urge to draw .......... and decided to finish it off. Reference was from a fashion magazine. Pastel pencil on fabriano pastel paper.

I love the way you handled the background for this. I have this need to fill up the canvas for some reason, but I love how that one splash of color there just seals the deal on the image.

Thank you all for looking and commenting.
mel-o, I always like to add a little bit of background colour - it seems to help give it a more 'finished' look

Until you said "fashion magazine" I thought you had dressed up Sherville like Princess Leia Any chance of that? I'd pay money!

Manooch, Thank you - glad you like them.
Bobby, Not much chance of getting her to pose for me and she does not have enough hair for the Princess Leia hairdo ......... hmmm on second thought - how much?

LOL Maynet! Bobby is so good at starting trouble......

I'm glad you saved this one...you have such a distinct style, I just love to look at your pieces. Love the color harmony, she seems kind of earthy and fresh at the same time.......

Hi TJ, I am glad you like my drawings. I also liked your 'waxwings in da hood' which you sent to Sherville.

Hi Mayet,

I think you've done a great job. Myself I was tempted to use photos from magazines as reference pics but they are so retouched and perfect which makes them so unnatural and also hard to draw so I just commend you for your courage and skill.

Bobby, lol .... I'll see what I can do

Irina, I often use references from fashion magazines but don't always copy them slavishly ....... I just use them for the initial inspiration.

Self-taut-artist, I usually use about six colours to obtain the flesh colours.

Mayet
