Re: Waiting

This is a very interesting piece. I really like the "translucent" effect you have achieved of the face superimposed over the room image. I particularly like the fact that your inner figures each display separate hair, features and body changes (the "Old Age" purple figure is disturbingly well rendered...ah yes, the fear of old age...BEAUTIFULLY DONE!) I imagine the inner figures as personifications of Age, Anger, Lonliness, Doubt/worry, Yearning, and Dispair, with the young figure in pink looking out the door in Anticipation. Just to give you an idea of how viewers perceive this piece.

The one thing that bothers me visually is the area beneath the "main" face. There is no neck. The colors are exquisite in that area, but really do not blend into the image, rather appearing as some sort of almost opalescent block at the bottom of the work.

You don't say how long this piece took you, but I would imagine it was not a "quickie." This really is very intriguing and pleasing to the eye. You should be proud of what you have accomplished in this piece. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Re: Waiting

This is what happens when artist uses his/her third eye; the kind of childlike playfullness and letting loose. I can see that your hands couldn't catch up with your fertile and creative mind;so tempting to overload it with images but you managed to be very selective and was successful in limiting your artwork to the barest essentials. There is no stopping now Varga, as this piece should embolden you to be more daring and execute large scale works later on. Did it ever occurred to you how powerful this work would be if it was done on a 7ftx9ft canvas or panel ? Many viewers would be quick to box you in the surrealist label but unlike the other surreal paintings whose intentions are just to amuse; yours goes beyond those pretentious mask and force the viewer to think, confront their own demons 'waiting' outside the door. Have you read about 'New Age realism'? Keep that 'inner child' alive despite the pain and hurt of working alone in solitude. You're really good !! cheers !!
