portable drying unit

Hi everyone,

About a month ago I started teaching art to children. I rent space in a community centre, but unfortunately, there are some space restrictions. I have to cart my supplies back and forth each week and have to take any of the kid's art with me if they haven't taken it home. That can be a problem, because at least half of the kids and their parents decide to leave it to dry for the next week.

Does anyone have an idea of some sort of portable drying rack or storage that I can easily make or buy? It needs to be fairly inexpensive, but more importantly, be able to contain the art inside somehow. I originally thought of gluing clothes pins to a board, which would then be attached to a stand. The problem with that is that it won't transport easily and I'm likely to end up with paint in the car. Any better ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Jolie

How many kids, Jolie?
I've seen pizza boxes work for that sort of thing...

Re: portable drying unit

oh! excellent idea! there are 9 kids, but they often each do more than 1 painting. eventually, there will be 12 kids per class and a total of 3 classes. i would hate to cart that many boxes back and forth, but if i give them each 2 it could be their responsibility to bring them back and forth each week. they usually remember to bring their sketchbooks, so i think they would be ok with this too. i'll do some research to see if i could get hold of a bunch from a pizza place.

thanks!

Hi
Another option is one box, stacking the paintings, and using dowels or other objects for spacers.

Hope this helps
