Scavenger Hunt #612 – Nov 29 - Dec 07

Scavenger Hunt #612 – Nov 29 - Dec 07
If you've participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one we would really appreciate it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting schedule in the Art From Life forum here: http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=366347

Here are the rules for the hunt:

*All items on the list must be sketched from life - not imagination or photo reference.

*Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.

*You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count these objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one item.

*All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.

Do as many or as few of the items as you like. You don't have to finish the entire list to participate. The Scavenger Hunt "week" will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.

Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you for each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome.

*** If you have some hunt sketches completed but little time to read/comment, please post your sketches anyways. Commenting is appreciated but not necessary. ***

For a short break from my crazy week, I went out to our 2nd floor outdoor balcony, cleaned it, dragged out my Soltek easel, and proped it up for my attempt of pastels and crayons. And Voila !!!

#1 Eggplant collection -- Done with Conte crayons & Sennelier soft pastels (passed down from our late Kivrin Hunt friend)

Ai, So beautiful and well done! You have great pastels to start and learn with. I'm smiling!

Mary and I didn't sketch yesterday as planned but are trying for today. I sketched in the big book with Prismacolor 01 and colored pencils for #1 left (hand) and 2 something I collect (CDs by default when we go to music) and then on my iPad with fingers and the Brushes App, Mary picked the item, something I like to wear. A shirt I've had for years. It is comfy and you will see me in it at many family events. It will be fun to see what she likes to wear.

Hi everyone!

Ai-love the eggplants! Didn’t know there were so many types
Aunt Jo- The CD case was spot on and at first I thought the shirt was an ad .

I piggybacked off you a bit-
1-left-hand
2-something Ai like you wear-my perfume
3- something I collect are converse tennis shoes 👟

Done on the same 7x10 sheet with dual tip pen brushes.

Sorry I sort of disappeared at the end of the last hunt. Too much going on with Thanksgiving and all.

Joe, thanks for the interesting list.

Ai - Nice sketch of the different colored eggplants. Kivrin would be so happy you are using the pastels!

Jo, good thinking for left with the hand holding the CD. Tried to see if it was by one of the groups you've provided links to on your blog. Yay, for comfy clothes...nicely sketched. I hate when you have something that is so comfy and you wear it all the time until it is so worn out. I like that you and Mary are doing the same items. Fun to see what each of you picks.

Mary, Nice work on the perfume bottle in your left hand. Collecting converse tennis shoe is unusual. Love the loose laces!

I was in NYC yesterday and went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art where they had this great special exhibit of armor from the time of Emperor Maximilian I.
1 - metallic - watercolor pencils
2 - blue (girl's shirt)
3 - glass windows - watercolors and ink
4 - hard stones
5 - rectangular (windows & signs) watercolors and ink
6 - old barn - watercolors

Joan: Thanks. Love the girl at the Metz scene. Fantastic double page spread of your sketch of the Metz. Which sketchbook do you use? Would you recommend it, if I go to the USA? Charming Pastry shop and country barn. You nail all perspective of the pastry shop. It is not easy for me. Hope you have great relaxing holiday despite all fun things going on there.

Jo: Thanks. Fantastic CD case cover. Those fishes remind me of Thai betta fishes. Cool blue blouse.

KarmArt. Thanks. Yes, there are so many variety of eggplants here. I'll try to find some more to sketch. Lovely perfume and cool iconic shoes sketches.

KarmArt, somehow I figured you for perfume....Good hand and love the shoe. We sort of sketched together...

Joan, fabulous set of sketches. A fun and interesting place to sketch. Your perspective and people skills are right on. I love the old barn....

Ai, not sure what the fish are, I'll ask Susan. Her music tells such great stories and she is a fantastic person. You can listen at susangibson.com

Hope to sketch today ... we shall see. Hi to all the rest....

Ai - Love the colors. Nice job on the egg plants. Pastels can be so vibrant.

Jo - Pen and cp. Interesting mix. Nicely done. It is like 2 focus points. Look and eyes are drawn to the white of the hand than eyes are drawn to the color. Nice digi of the top.

KarmArt - Chanel and Converse. That is a very interesting combination and nicely drawn. The laces really pop.

Joan - You always blow me away with your watercolors. There is something captivating about the young woman’s and the armor. I also love how the ink on the people grinds them forward and adds depth on the spread piece. The barn has a peaceful feel to it. Plus the flag is hung properly. Too often see the flag hung with union to the right.

Hoping to draw today.🤞🏽

Keep sketching
Joe

Re: Scavenger Hunt #612 – Nov 29 - Dec 07

Thanks for the list, Joe.

AI: Lovely pastels. I particularly like the subtle colours shifts of green on the left.

Jo: Super cute fish. What wonderful fins. And a very jazzy shirt!

KarmArt: Nice job on the transparency, and love those bright red laces.

Joan: Very nice armour and gorgeous ruins, with the autumn leaves outside. I like how the cooler greens of the signs react with the blue shadows.

1. Yellow - Vase
2. Smells good - Pink grapefruit tea (stinks the whole cupboard out)
3. Something conical - Seashell
4. Something seasonal - Morning frost

Joe, thanks and looking forward to your sketches.

Hey, Munin! Lovely to see your beautiful digis. They are so painterly like. Vase is graceful. The tea looks good, but sounds awful ( I only like grapefruit in Salty Dogs - gin and grapefruit juice and salt) Ha. Beautiful shell. Cool looking frost, literally.

Hope to sketch out in the world today.
