Re: Basic 101: Class1 - Drawing Basics

Hi

Thanks so much for your tips and teaching. Much appreciated
I found the underhand position better for drawing straight lines.
I am not happy with the chair at all, I found it quite difficult tbh, but that's the whole point...lol I gotta keep practicing

Re: Basic 101: Class1 - Drawing Basics

I am having a problem uploading images, so I had to resize them small.

Re: Basic 101: Class1 - Drawing Basics

Very good job, Ro
The aim of this first class is to become accustomed to handling the pencil in different ways. The exact result is not so important.
Please move on to class 2

Re: Basic 101: Class1 - Drawing Basics

Here are my attempts. I found rotating the page was equally comfortable for writing position and underhand. I hated underhand drawing without rotating.

I think the biggest struggle was underhand position on the spheres - the ones where I tried that were all wonky.

I had to keep reminding myself to move from the elbow especially for shading. The chair took an hour.

Re: Basic 101: Class1 - Drawing Basics

Well done, CampDamp
Writing position and underhand position have their specific area of use. See here for mere information.
One remark: take your photos pointing your camera/phone perpendicularly to the paper. Otherwise you get the distortion as in the first and circle pictures. No harm here, but I cannot judge on the correct proportions if the picture is distorted.

Please move on to class 2

Re: Basic 101: Class1 - Drawing Basics

Thank you Arnoud, I've seen the camera positioning image in some of the past threads and didn't understand what it was referring to until I was guilty of posting distorted images myself! Unfortunately I don't have a scanner so I will just have to be more careful going forward
