Re: Packed and Ready to Go — WIP

Thanks Doug, Bill, Sharon, and Char.

Made some progress in class yesterday. Worked on the details on the suitcase filling in the areas where the masking fluid had been.

Then I put a wash of Faenza blue on the shawl and began doing a little bit of negative painting on the right and layering color on the left. Will take it slowly to try to give the illusion of what I see in the reference photo.

More to do on the shawl and then I will work on the foreground grasses.

Syl, I had to look up Faenza Blue! It's PB60 Indanthrene. I loved the look of it on your shawl... I think it's worth keeping on my palette instead of ultramarine which I often find to be a little too vibrant.

Char, Yes, Faenza Blue is MaimeriBlu's name for Indanthrone or Indanthrene Blue (depending on the manufacturer). It is a wonderful color no matter what you call it.

Re: Packed and Ready to Go — WIP

I worked on the grasses in the foreground and background (although my camera or computer is having a tough time showing the background lighter shades accurately).

I also polished up the handle and other details on the suitcase.

Monday I'll take it to class and try to finish the shawl.

Re: Packed and Ready to Go — WIP

It tuned out well Sylvia. For the shawl I just applied a dot pattern of the same colour as the shawl.

I plan to do some negative painting to give the impression of the threads and openings in the shawl. it works.

Re: Packed and Ready to Go — WIP

Thanks Zelda, Lil, and Doug.

The shawl is going to take a bit of concentration to get the effect I want, but I'll work on it in my art class tomorrow afternoon.

I finished the shawl in class on Monday and added my signature.

I enjoyed doing this painting, thanks for the lovely reference, Doug!
