Scavenger Hunt #496: May 12-20, 2017
Pls. help sign up as a host to any Scavenger Hunt in this thread.
… Thanks a bunch...
These are the hunting rules:
- All items must be sketched or painted from life --- no photo references nor from imagination.
- Be as “creative” with the subjects as you want. Multiple subjects in a single drawing/painting is fine. Count them all!
- No time limit on the sketches… as much or as little detail as you wish.
- Any medium is welcomed.
- All items need to be drawn or painted new from the date this scavenger hunt starts.
- No certain order for completion. Number as you go to keep track of how many you've done.
- Feel free to ad a tidbit about the item and/or what made you select it.
- Have fun

Jeroen, well done on the drink! You have a bloom in there, too!

Thanks Jo, Ai, and Jeroen.
Jeroen, looks like you and I think along the same lines. Nice sketch of the Heineken bottle.
4 - heads of shoppers - watercolors and ink
5 - zoom lens - ink brush
6 - ink - ink brush
7 - drink (Somehow we ended up with some assorted Belgian beer bottles. I thought the carton was all Stella beers but they snuck in others too. Don't know how this one tastes yet.) watercolors and ink

Re: Scavenger Hunt #496: May 12-20, 2017
Joan, I really like the flower stand. You and Jeroen do think alike on beer! Nice one. Good line drawings.
I sketched in the big book with Micron 01 and some colored pencils.
Number 1, gat - this is Gene's air-pellet gun. He has a pistol/revolver that belonged to his dad but I forgot about it.
Number 2, drink - one of my favorites now
Number 3, red and 4, blue - hard candies in shiny paper, no idea what kind or flavors came with the toy dog and probably made in China!
Horrible photos from my phone, this fruit was in our grocery, I didn't have time to sketch these exotics. The green ones are as big as a watermelon and look like a sponge or something. I bet Ai knows what they are. Ha.

Jeroen: Always a joy to see your sketches. I didn't realize they were that small (but I very much like small drawings).
Jo: Looks like it might be durian fruit:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durian
A sketch of them might fit into the 'stink' category; apparently they are delicious but smell horrid. I wouldn't know; I have never seen them in the flesh. :-)

Re: Scavenger Hunt #496: May 12-20, 2017
Brian, LOL. That looks like it. One of the foods that you wonder why anyone ever ate it the first time. Smell descriptions are so bad.... Thanks. Until Ai or someone else tells me they have tried it and found it good, I will leave it on the shelf. Smiling.
Happy Mother's Day to the mothers and all concerned!

Re: Scavenger Hunt #496: May 12-20, 2017
Joan: Lovely dog training, garden of flowers, heads of shoppers...and Le Stella...
Joroen: Love your ale and the bloom flowers too..
Jo: Cool real Texan gat !!! lovely red candy... The green big fruits are Jackfruit... inside fleshes are soft yellow orange and sweet but inside of a jackfruits are full of very sticky glue-like zap... I never process it myself...when we bought them here, the merchants did the peeling part for us. We just buy a foam tray of yellow orange flesh. Here is the more info. of it.

Oh yeah...from the link above, now I know that Thailand ranks third of producing jackfruits.
Brian: Hi

Re: Scavenger Hunt #496: May 12-20, 2017
Ai, thanks. I looked it up, too, as I decided our store wouldn't. Have the stinky stuff, Brian. Ha. There is a company that uses jackfruit green and says it is the texture of meat and sell packages ready to eat like BBQ, the Jackfruit Company. I love yours sketches. Great lunch! I would like to try that.
Thanks for the photos. And the info.

Jo - Nice sketches. That fruit is a monster! It looks like something on steroids. lol
Jeroen - You didn't make that sound very appetizing. lol
Ai - A Food Truck Fest sounds like fun, and you captured some really colorful foods. The trucks themselves would be fun to sketch too.
