Hello FWinwood...welcome to the Still Life forum....I assume these are graphite...on paper...? size.

Are they works in progress - if so we can mark the thread WIP.

I think you're doing well...with both of them. Do you have photo software to lighten your picture? If not I can do it for you in Photoshop. Other suggestion is to photograph outside in daylight...but not in full sun.

I'm not sure lol, is graphite a type of pencil? If so, probably, and it's A4.

Yeah they are in progress, and no I don't but if you could alter the tone of them i'd appreciate it, thanks.

I've lightened the paper as much as I can...but I'm not sure how dark your pencil was. As far as I know, graphite replaced lead in pencils...but Of course...I could be wrong! The generic term pencil used to mean just lead, but nowadays there are dozens of different types of pencil - watersoluble ones as well....so using the term graphite let's the viewer know what you used
