I think making ads would be one of the funnest things ever...one of my girlfriends had a small ad agency years ago and did a lot of local stuff..it really is a huge creative outlet. Congrats on your awards!

Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, August 2012

Mornin everyone..or anyone.. I am just back from my walk, in my new shoes...it was nice to have warm feet today...and they walk easier than slides, so I added three blocks to my course to make up for the ease of movement..

The predawn sky was beautiful...a crescent moon flanked on either side by a brilliant star. (honestly from what little astronomy I know, I do think they are planets not stars, but they were brilliant)

And I could see why landscape artists are taken with cerulean blue..it would have been a perfect match in the dappled light areas, then there were just the hint of clouds in deep purple...I must try to paint one morning.

Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, August 2012

Good morning, everyone!

Just lazing on a Sunday morning here. My studio is transformed into a guest room, so I don't have to feel guilty about not painting! (Although the clouds today are really interesting...)

My son's flights were all so delayed yesterday that he didn't get here until after 10pm! Fortunately, the change in flights meant he came in to an airport much closer - which was a too expensive ticket when he booked. Only had a 20 minute drive to the airport instead of 1 hour.

Nice shoes, all! I used to love shoes but now I can't wear heels anymore because of my back. In this climate, it's all slide sandals for me.

Becca, I get up in the morning, look out the kitchen window while I fill the tea pot, and try to judge which blue the sky is. Quite often, it's cerulean. Towards the afternoon, it seems to get a tinge of French UM in it. But it's really quite challenging to find the color that really reflects what I'm seeing!

Nancy, I agree that you'll probably have to change that carpet - but did you try using the natural enzymes you can spray on? I have bottles of that stuff and it does work. Also, I learned another system that works well: Clean with water, dry as much as possible (you can use old newspapers and step on them, that soaks the moisture right out of the carpet underneath), then soak with rubbing alcohol! It's a new thing I learned and it has been very effective in making them not go back to the same spot. But - we also have no carpets anymore...
Have a lovely time with your family and enjoy the cooler climate!

We'll be just lounging around today, go for frozen yogurt and some groceries. Tomorrow, we plan to go out with the boat with some friends.

Toril, after sunrise the colors are much paler..so cerulean doesn't scream as loud..but at night, it is amazing and rich.

Glad your son arrived safely anyway, and know you are set to enjoy his visit completely! That yogurt sounds good...boat ride too.

Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, August 2012

Good Morning!!!

Not much interesting going on today. It's the dog days of summer here, for at least 6 weeks (then 4 more weeks of plain old hot).

I have some bookkeeping to catch up on before it gets out of hand, and 3 canvii to finish stretching (which can wait). A musician wants a pic of another guy who plays in his band, and the Celts, and one final thing for the CD cover, I need the official logo for the art tour.

I will be able to to paint, I just need to prioritze.

Marcia, sounds like a full day for you...glad you are working out painting time..

I'm hoping to maybe get a drawing on canvas. Have been looking at the reference a lot this morning.

Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, August 2012

I got the official logo. It's kind of unattractive, but at least the colors won't clash with the rest of the design.

Skeezix caught one of these this ayem:
they are about the size of a chipmunk, but they are called antelope ground squirrels. Cute, but tough, thankfully. I chased her around the patio until I could grab her by the scruff of the neck and make her let it go. He ran off, unscathed. She was a little annoyed with me.

Marcia, how cute!!! Glad you rescued the little guy from your Skeezix...Katy would hand them over to me when I asked and they were normally intact from her....Toby and Dexter were another story..

I did get my canvas toned...now I can release my mind from that and try to do a few other mustdo/shoulddo today...then maybe I can draw.

Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, August 2012

I have the following posted in the internet sales portion of the business forum, I don't think it is my computer...

Quote:
I have a serious problem with my Blogger account....I just discovered someone has attached popups to my sight and I have spent all morning trying to figure out how to contact google. Right now I have it disabled, but can it be fixed? How do I contact Google? I wouldn't care, but I have over 300 posts to the site currently and like browsing the other blogs. I do have a new website started, but obviously don't want to transfer all my blog info to it...
Is my best course to just close the blog?

Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, August 2012

I hope you are able to get it figured out, Becca.

When I was ready to go inside this morning, I had to hunt her down again - she was hiding in the rosemary bush, and I only found her because she growled at me. I put the hose on the bush and she ran out with a bird in her mouth! This one was still alive when she dropped it, so I hope it was okay.

I got the correct logo and now, hopefully the cover is done. I haven't done any bookkeeping. Maybe it can wait until later today...

Thanks, Marcia, I hope I get it fixed too...

Kitties can be very driven to hunt..
Congrats on the logo...

I may go buy a hard drive to backup before I go any farther with my efforts to fix things..

Re: The Oily Rag....................Come and Chat, August 2012

Skeezix is turning into a relentless predator. Mia likes to pretend to hunt, but I never worry about her actually catching anything.

Either getting a back up drive, or using an offsite service is always a good idea.
This article has tips on the latter: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10t...p-provider/285
