Re: WIP: andy eat your heart out

These shot by shot progress posts are interesting to follow as you continue but at the same time frustrating because everything takes time and some things more than others. Is it that way with you? or are you an artist that has more patience than time and it will take as long as it takes?

Beautiful work I will be interested to see what it all looks like when you are finished!

Re: WIP: andy eat your heart out

hi all,
yes Dave, the time factor can be frustrating
i have enormous patience with regard to that but even so it can sometimes
be tediously slow and difficult to keep momentum going...
and the REALLY time consuming part is yet to come...
this is the 4th in this style i have done, the quickest took 6 months,
the longest was 2 years.
i hope this one will be quicker due to small technique changes i have made.
cheers,
max

I've been working in the lower left today
I felt the orange ground was too pale so darkened it
but now i feel it's too much

as usual, c&c welcome

Re: WIP: andy eat your heart out

I am rarely in this forum, let alone making a comment. But I could not let this go without praising firstly the concept. It is incredible. Not only that the execution is very will done. I have to add that I am very impressed

Wow, this sure is looking, well, amazing. I would never have the patience to do something this labor intensive.

While I do love the bright colors, I have a hard time looking at it on my computer. Seems my eyes don't want to sit still, haha.

Re: WIP: andy eat your heart out

hi all,

thanks for the enthusiastic comments...

yes alangraham, the idea is that it seems to move
if you try to follow any of the 'branches', they split or waver or simply end unexpectedly...wait until phase two, then it really starts to move around

the essential idea was that it would be art to make your eyes bleed, not literally, of course, but in a sense that it was so bright and so overloading with movement and shapes and... that you found it hard to actually take in the whole piece at once...

and that is how i have to work on it also, i choose one small section and concentrate there, if i try to cover too large a space i have trouble keeping hold of the image in my head...
no prelim sketches here, the whole idea arrives complete and i just attempt to get down on the surface how i see it in my minds eye

still lots of fun tho.
thanks again,
max
