Re: Supplies while sketching/journaling - version 2
I've had this case on my wishlist for ages. It's nice to see how many supplies actually fit in there.

I'm a big fan of the nomadic pencil cases--I think I have one of each of them!

Re: Supplies while sketching/journaling - version 2
I de-eyedroppered a Pilot Petit1 pen, and am now using one of the cartridges filled with Platinum carbon black. It's working fine, and is my wallet pen, since it's so small.
My problem is that of the 4 I have, only two will write worth a darn--won't start, skip, etc. I played with the nibs, but they're still hit and miss.
But, for $3, that's not too bad. Well, since only half of mine work, that makes them $6, but that's still a decent price for these little pens. I like how they fit in my hand unposted, and the nib is a good size, so I decided to order some.
Well, JetPens is no longer carrying them! MyMaido does, and they come with a cartridge, for a little more money, and they also have a $25 free shipping deal (but not the vast inventory of JetPens). So, I have more on the way.

Huh, I wonder why Jetpens stopped stocking them. They were in my wish list for a long time.

I don't know--they still have the other two kinds (brush and marker).

Re: Supplies while sketching/journaling - version 2
This TEA > MILK > HONEY worksheet is pretty interesting. The instructor Marc Holmes is an Urban Sketcher and gave that workshop at their conference in Santo Domingo. I REALLY like his sketching style. So loose and so expressive.
Anyway the sequence is good! Start by washing the first pass ("tea") and letting that dry 100%. Then come in and "draw" with crisp edges for the second pass, which is the "milk". Finally the "honey" is reinforcing the contrasts for the focal point. Nifty! Effective!
I can see a downside to that necessity of having to let the first pass dry 100%. Yeah, it's often humid here. But if you're not in a hurry what the heck. You can use the drying time to compose a poem. Or write a journal entry in the sketchbook. Or something.
More here on this sketching sequence/technique.

Thanks for both sets of links, Jan! I find looking at other people's sketch kits endlessly fascinating, and that technique is intriguing.

I finally just bookmarked it as its too, too much to take in all at once. Thanks for the warning .
I found this after sitting in one at the local Army and Navy store. Of course the A&N one was camo colored and not my cup of tea at all.

With the back, it is very comfortable and is made by the same company as the A&N store ones. This is one of the best prices I've found for one of these and DH and I are going to order two so that we can also have them for camping.
