Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

We have had really cloudy, damp weather the last few days. I did go out yesterday to sketch, even though it was misting lightly at times. I did these from my car.

This is a local farmstand.

And this was done at the East Islip Marina for the Sketchbook Project.

Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

wonderful view of the Marina and the posts

The farm stand looks like it doesn't have much produce at the time you drew it?

Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

Looking good Joan. I use Pilot Precise pens when I want a fine line and a bit of a bleed. Pentel Pocket Brush Pen usually doesn't bleed but is a fun and very different kind of pen to use as well, I love adding water color over it, just another thing I've picked up from Roz Wound Up and enjoy!

Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

Rainy - Thanks. Most of the produce was on the other end of the farmstand, but I didn't want to park over there and be too obvious. lol

Margo - Thanks. I have some micron pens with a very fine point, but they don't make them in sepia only black for some reason. I usually prefer to use sepia pens. I'm going to have to get another pen to refill on my own.

Debby - Thanks!

Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

Here is another sketch for the 75 day project. This guy made a good model...and a good dinner.

Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

Fabulous lobster sketch, and always nice when the models can double as dinner.

Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

Debby and Margo - It is nice to have models that serve dual purposes. lol Thanks.

This was done the other night when my sketch group went out.

Believe it or not this was sketched in the ladies room of the manor house at the arboretum I go to a lot.

On Friday I went with a few friends to paint at a garden out east.

Wine anyone?

I sketched some of the plants on my patio railing.

I think I'm caught up with my posting. Maybe tomorrow I'll have time to visit everyone's journals.

Lovely, you have a very nice range of greens. Your green mixing is definitely getting a workout this summer!

Margo - Thank you!

Debbie - I'm always ready to share my wine!

Here is another sketch. I did resist the burgers even though they smelled great!

You are a saint, always resisting the food offerings when you are out sketching. Great sketch.

Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

Joan

You are such a prolific sketcher. I love what you've been churning out.
When I sketch with a pen on a piece of scrap paper it doesn't turn out too bad (sometimes), but the minute i get out some decent art paper my hand/brain stiffen up and.......

Keep it up cuz you're such an inspiration,

DougN
