Fantasy/Sci-Fi Monthly Challenge JULY- Anime style!

My son has been writing this story about Angels and Demons, and some friends of his has drawn some characters for it ( I am so mad he did not ask me!

) But I really loved what they have come up with, and will try to sketch some of them myself. Anime style is so popular, thought some might enjoy working this month on some sketches.

This is an activity thread for artists of all experience levels, and that work in any medium. Being traditional painting, drawing, or digital art. Since this is a group activity, we can pool our knowledge and resources, and grow as artists in a fun, no-pressure atmosphere. No critiques unless specifically asked for. Please, no harsh critique! The intent is to have fun, try new things, and experiment.

My sons always loved DragonBall Z, and one of them used to run around the house saying KAME HAMEHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a character I came up with, Kiva, when I was into depressing anime haha (I only draw her when I'm in a sad mood). All of these are digital.

I'm watching a Korean drama and here's my attempt at manganizing the characters.

I am unsure if some of you are aware ... but I am crazy about hand drawn paper dolls. Here are some anime ones i just made for an exchange!

Geekette - I am using Paint Tool SAI - it's a very small japanese program but translations exist.

Sunface - those paper dolls are cute and fun! I made one once with interchangeable clothes and really enjoyed it.

Maria, those anime dolls are totally Japanese in looks. Nice work.

Here's my attempt again.

Based on a people's artist reference book.

Pentalic 70 lb sketchbook 5.5 x 8 inch

First I sketched with pencil. Body inked with Pentel Calligraphy pocket brushpen. Hair with Chinese brush and sumi ink.

Sandra I really like the muscle line on your guy! It adds to the mood of the guy holding the gun!

I have been meaning to draw one of my sons characters, maybe I will try tonight!

Sadly, vacation got in the way and I didn't manage to get anything done - would it be OK for me to add something in the next week, even though July is technically over? Anime was my 'gateway drug' into the art world, so it has a fond place in my heart.

SunFace: Love the Sailor Mars! Like a page right out of my childhood.
