Overwhelmed
A painting which I had started a couple of years ago and abandoned until finishing it this week.
Overwhelmed, 71 x 61 cm (28x24"), acrylic on hardboard

Yes, the first thing I thought of was a spacescape, I think it is the blues and the curved shapes with everything in a very crisp presentation. Quite interesting although it does make my eyes dizzy.
Amazing that that spark can ignite after a 2 year cooling off period. Good one Randy!

Re: Overwhelmed
It has that 'it' factor that I am seeing more and more in modern painters.. Where you reach a point of balance and unity in a colorful painting that just lets it sing..

Overwhelmed
Wow. Starting with the title, I see something very dark and upsetting in this excellent work: I see the left eye, and a bit of a right eye below it to the lower right of the painting, of a closeup of a person's face, laying on its right side--someone who has been knocked down and overwhelmed by something awful.
Now had another title been given, I'm not sure I would have noticed the eye that I am seeing......

Re: Overwhelmed
I immediately connected with the blue eye and also noted the green arrow pointing directly into the pupil. The feeling I get from this piece is a little dizzying but it is still very cohesive.
Got to see this one in person this morning and the photo here doesn't do it justice. Some of the richness of the paint and the dimensionality of the mediums used just doesn't get captured.

Re: Overwhelmed
This piece looks like it has so much texture which I love. I also feel that it compliments the layering of the colors and adds additional depth. I could stare at this for a while and keep finding new and interesting shapes/images. Also, I commend you on finishing a painting that you had let sit around for awhile. It's hard to do but I think everyone goes through some of those. Great job!

Re: Overwhelmed
Thank you all for your comments. I'm glad that this piece spoke to you. With this piece was trying to convey a feeling, that of being overwhelmed, rather than trying to represent anything. As Rick mentioned, this piece is probably more successful if seen in real life since it has a lot of layers and textures going on. Thanks again
