Do you remember fractals?

I am not a true digital artist but I have played with creating some digital art, lol. I usually do this with digital photography based manipulations.

However, a number of years ago, I was introduced to fractals and I was fascinated. I downloaded a simple free fractal generator and played with it for awhile before I got busy doing other things.

The following images were created during this short time span. I realize they are not great art but then again, they were done by a real newbie and at the time, I was rather pleased with them. To me, they still hold a certain simplistic charm, lol.

Each of the finished works includes the original fractal that was generated then manipulated to create the other images.

Image 1 - the original fractal is in the upper left hand corner

Image 2 - the original fractal is in the middle at the bottom

Image 3 - the original fractal is in the upper right hand corner

As is obvious from many images at this forum - digital art is a vastly more complex and versatile medium than way back in the day, lol.

Re: Do you remember fractals?

Those are beautiful, I particularly love the hummingbird. This reminds me an article in one of my Digital Artist magazines about a woman who uses fractals a lot in her art and to great effect. I'll see if I still have the magazine later.

I do have a folder on my computer of old Apophysis fractals I made that I thought looked good, but I haven't done anything else to/with them.

Great! All of them are good, but the N°3 is splendid!

These are great! And yes, you are a digital artist.
