Ashmore Park, #1 (x-post landscape)
Oil Pastels:
7 x 5: canvas board
Underpainting completed w/a soft pastel alcohol wash.
This painting is the first in a 3-painting series of Ashmore Park (sizes will be 7x5, 8x10 and 11x14). The park is located in a nearby neighborhood (never knew the park existed). This place took my breath away, so I figured why not paint a series in which each painting reveals more of the park scene.
This first painting is a close-up view of a portion of the riverbank. Hope you enjoy. All comments and feedback are welcomed. Thanks, Mary

What a great idea to do a series of your local community! Love the darks , blues next to the sunny greens and yellows.. You have a wonderful style that I admire. Excited to see more from this series.

Re: Ashmore Park, #1 (x-post landscape)
I appreciate everyone's feedback, it made my day!
Rich: Wow, appreciate your comments and notice of the colors used. I've been working on improving my use of color, have a long ways to go in learning and doing, but I can see that it's starting to pay off.
Agnes: Thanks so much for mentioning the colors! AND also for pointing out the light. This place just spoke to me, couldn't walk away from it.
Tracy: Thank you! Appreciate your very nice feedback. I was trying to get the light in there, even with the darks of the water - thanks for mentioning.
Hal: thanks, it was a bit of a devil painting so much color on a small board. Can't wait to tackle the next two.
Alan: Appreciate it - the water was gorgeous at the Park. The water in the next painting of this series will be the most difficult, many colors and ripples.

Love the vegetation on the bank and the light and shade of the water.

Mary, the vividness of this piece is sooo nice. I love the water meandering on the left side. Well done landscape.

Re: Ashmore Park, #1 (x-post landscape)
Hi Tali: Thanks for your feedback. I found a lot of neat little spots and patterns in this vegetation - a lot of fun painting it.
Hi Sammy: Thank you for commenting. I was worried that it was a bit much, but the day was so bright and the shade on the water was so deep I couldn't resist. I took your advice and use my artist "license" and carried cerulean blue up the left-side and it seemed to work.
Hi Reeta: Thank you so much for all your feedback. I really enjoyed working those deep colors in the water, there's even some Violet and Indian Red but the camera doesn't pick it up.

Re: Ashmore Park, #1 (x-post landscape)
Hi Pat: Thanks for reviewing and commenting. River water intimidates me, because it can turn to dull-muddy tones so quickly. It's an area that I need much work on, so thank you for mentioning the light on the water.
