Pretty Pink Peonies
At a recent watercolor show of an organization I belong to, I thought the centerpiece on the refreshment table was so beautiful I snapped a photo of the flowers.

I cropped the picture to just show these three big peonies in various tones of pink surrounded by lilacs.

Reference: My own Photo
Paper: Hahnemuchle Andelucia Rough 230 lb
Size: 11.5" x 8.75"
Paints: all artist grade: Terry Madden Newport Blue; MB Garnet Lake; DS Moonglow; MaimeriBlu Avignon Orange; DS Hansa Yellow Med; DS Quin Pink; DS Quin Rose; DS Green Gold; DS Undersea Green

What a lovely way to start my day. Thank you all for taking the time to look and comment.

Karen, Take them one petal at a time (OPT) and they get finished nicely. Then you add shading and shadows and finish up with a flower.

Char, As you said when I showed the photo I took this from, there are a couple more paintings in the bunch that I may get around to doing later.

Katherine, I enjoyed the different stages each of the flowers was in. It was a bit of a challenge to get them looking right.

Karl, I seldom paint in the high key mode, but somehow this painting seemed to call for it.
