Re: untitled

I think you have some really nice blending going on in the soft reflections in the water and the hazy mountain. I think compositionally it is poor - you have a mountain dead center and trees on either side - in equal amounts, sizes, shapes...

Re: untitled

the perfunctory birds truly distract. chop one of the trees down.

Re: untitled

I do see that the mountain should have been off center a little more. Should I add another large tree to cut part of the mountain off or if I should chop down a tree how do you do this in oil without ruining the painting? I have not dealt much with oil mostly with acrylics.

Re: untitled

Nice attempt although composition wise it needs some work. There is a problem with the perspective and the sizes of the trees. The birds don't really work in this image as well and I think the contrast needs work. Maybe darker water. Usually reflections in water are darker than the image they reflect. Just my thoughts. I originally worked in oil but I find that acrylic can give you the same if not better effects with some practice and it dries a lot faster is easier to clean up and doesn't smell bad. Just my thoughts. Hope they help.

Re: untitled

title suggestions: 'mountain', 'white mountains', 'mountain scape', ...

you *could* turn the tree on the right into more mountain
you *could* open up the foreground trees by peeking some water between their leaves and outer edges
you *could* lighten the birds to give them more distance

or you *could* leave it be and move onto your next, with thoughts of a better composition for next time

Re: untitled

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I am learning more about painting with every piece I do. Next time I'll try and remember never in the center. H
