Abandoned Boat - Is there something wrong with this?

Hi again folks - just painted this. 22in x 24 in acrylic.

Is there something wrong with it - something missing - my eye keeps going to the water?

Overall, I think it is coming along nicely. Your color selection is good. Seems to me that if you are going for more of an impressionist work it is okay but if you are going for a more realistic work is needs some adjusting. It doesn't appear to be placed quite right ( to much of it is out of the water and above the shoreline). It would be nearly impossible for a boat to sit like that without some major propping from the back side of the boat. The shadows are a bit out of whack. It isn't attached to the water or the shore in a way that would make it believable. Seems that the angle of the boat may need some adjusting as well. Seems a bit wide for a dory and the ends (bow and stern) don't appear to curve properly. Reflections need some adjusting as well. Just my humble opinion of course.

That's what I thought, I would put a large rock behind the boat for it to lean on. Wonderful location.

Love the idea you present. If the water color was reflecting the sky than it might be a bit lighter- because the mountains and the water are the same color it is the largest mass...therefore the eye is drawn to that lovely, but overpowering, blue.

a light glaze of orange over the top of the seats and top of the sides of the boat might warm it just enought to separate it from the rocks behind it. It seems a bit blue-silver. even weathered wood still has a sense of brown to it.

I'd also adjust the shadow as was suggested earlier.
