Old Yeller-x post Pastels

Hi Everyone

I usually post in the Pastel forum, but I thought you would be interested in my latest piece.

I just finished this pastel using a 5x7 pastel sketch I did on site and the photograph I took that same day. I loved having my sketch to refer to as photographic references have substandard color values. This was done on a piece of Art-Spectrum paper measuring approx 11"x21". I used a variation of soft and hard pastels from many of the major brands.

I attacxhed my little sketch first then the studio painting. I changed the position of the boat and dock to adjust the composition to the narrower format. This way my little "Plein Aire" sketch stands on it's own as a cronicle of that beautiful summers day!

Hi Marlene, I really like the format of the studio piece and the subtler sky colors (they shine). Very inviting with the boat just waiting near the grasses like that
