Question About Cutting MDF Panels

Hi,
I want to cut some panels for plein air from MDF. Does anyone have a template that they use. I'm looking at a 4' x 8' board and would like fairly standard sizes, 8 x 10, 11 x 14, 12 x 16 and maybe a few 16 x 20's.

Thanks.

These may help, but you probably will have to do your own marking out because everyone has different needs/sizes of panels.
I cut mine on a table saw and always allowed for the "cut waste" from the blade. They came out perfect, even when I covered with canvas like Larry shows.

I cut mine into 9 12x16's and 9 16x20's, which can then be cut into 8x10's if so needed.

Re: Question About Cutting MDF Panels

If you find a framing supplier, they use often 3mm mdf boards just the right size as backing boards which are perfect for plein air.

I just go to a local supplier, such as MrPly here and they will cut any number of sheets of ply/mdf to any sizes, no charge for cutting.

Wow Mac, thats quite a shop. Have you tried the 3mm aluminum composit? How aout the 4mm beech veneered MDF? I'd be tempted if we had a MrPlyWood here.
Have fun, Dave
