Here's one I played with today. I would like to hear what you think of it.

I have some concern about the top as the lines are taking my eye out of the piece. What do you think?
I like the fact that you used a spot of yellow as the focal point.

Hi Jumper, I like the colours you have used in this piece..strong and juicy, and the black background really makes it pop!

Thank you for your comments! What I was thinking when I did the lines at the top was a few candles. I wondered at one time whether I should put yellow on top of each one, but I thought that would take people's eyes out of the piece even more.

Thanks about the yellow. This was a piece that I was just having fun with. It only took a short while to do it, but I wanted it to be real simple. It no longer exist now, because I have painted over it. I'm short on canvases so a lot of pieces I do, I'm just painting over something. That's why you will see ridges that don't seem to mean anything

You are my first friend here, so hearing comments from you always makes me take notice. Thanks about the piece. One of the main things I was actually accomplishing was learning how to use a sponge. I really like the blending and softness that you can get with one.

I too like the colors, background, and the yellow as focal point. I wish everything were more blended and not so cubed off, but that is just a style that I see me liking more then others so far in my brief venture into abstract art appreciation.

add sub-texture and give the eye something else to chase...

Very fun colors and I like the dimensional quality you have given the shapes. I agree with JON about being sent out of the frame by some of the composition.

There seems to be a mechanical feeling about the objects but maybe there is just as much an anatomical feeling too. I like it, nicely done jumper.

Hey Sean, I have to agree with you about it being cubed off some. I think I was more interested in the experiment than the presentation. When I do something else I will keep that in mind.

Hi Dave, I have to agree with you about it being mechanical. Everything is a little "too" in order. That's something that I'm working on. I'm trying to get my head to think "fuzzy", if you know what I mean, lol.

Oh, and leading the eyes off the painting is a new lesson for me. I've recently studied that and hope that's something I can "cure" or at least be better at in the future.
