Re: swan

This is beautiful.

I would like to see some indication of feather texture and a bit clearer upper/lower beak. I see you have done that on some other bird paintings which are wonderful!

Re: swan

I would work on texture. It really is a good one ...but for argument's sake, it feels like the grass, and the swan are of the same material...

Re: swan

neck seems a bit thick
beak 'kissing' the white water highlight raises the water up oddly
crispness (vs sooo soft) in his facial area would be grand

Re: swan

I wonder if his right wing has to be squared off?

Re: swan

Great little painting.
I really like the use of muted colors. Good sense of color intensity.

The modeling of form on the back where the wings meet the ribcage gets a bit lost.
The water reflections look a bit rugged, compared to the rest of the drawing. Some of the highlights on the water look like lost feathers floating.

Re: swan

I do love the way she is sitting so regally in the water, she is very soft and very pretty. It is chunky but gentle in technique. Good crits too from others, the beak is lifting the water due to it seeming to touch the highlight, making the highlights on the water look like they are floating around in the air. Lovely subject though and great light on the swan. Cheers. Debs. =))
