Re: Dapple Grey
You are right, velour is very unforgiving, I have about 3 layers on the horse and 2 on the background. Having some flu like issues today, hoping to work on it tomorrow if I'm feeling better. Thank you for all the nice comments everyone!

Re: Dapple Grey
I found velour rather hard work but you are making it look easy to achieve detail! Looking forward to seeing the completed work. Kat

Re: Dapple Grey
I am thank you Peggy, even though I don't like what I did on the horse today, taking a break before I ruin it. I love Giraults but they are very pricey, Rembrandts, Sennelier and nupastels for the hard pastels. I know just about everything works on the sanded paper, but I don't find that so on the velour. I'm sure every pastel artist have different ones they like.... I am looking forward to getting my hands on some pastelmat paper and see what it is like.

Re: Dapple Grey
Here is an update, I thought I would go ahead and show it a at a ugly stage. The horse has his winter coat, I thought about slicking his coat, but I love that soft, fuzzy look. Hope to get a lot done today.

Re: Dapple Grey
If that is 'ugly' Stephanie, then I don't know what beautiful is. I think this is looking absolutely lovely and can't wait to see the finish.

Re: Dapple Grey
I like the idea of keeping is winter coat. Adds to the atmosphere to the piece.
