The Painted Kwilt

MY IMAGE(S):

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: The Painted Kwilt
Year Created:
Medium: Watercolor
Surface: Watercolor Paper
Dimension: 20 x 25
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

MY COMMENTS:
This watercolor/mixed media was inspired by the Bearded Collie, a sheepdog from Scotland. This dog nearly became instinct in the 1950's. I am mainly a dog artist formerly a portrait artist. I also do photography which aids me in the prints I make of my work.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Just interested in what the panel thinks of this and if it appeals to them or not. I know I have an audience with Bearded Collie people but how is it viewed by others.

Re: The Painted Kwilt

As I love the quilting art form as a stand alone, I am finding this work much like a painting of a painting. Sorry 'bout that.

Re: The Painted Kwilt

No, I didn't do a painting of an already made bed quilt. This is a one of a kind 'KWILT' Painting. Called a Kwilt because it is made in squares for the Scottish dogs it represents. Each square is handpainted in watercolor by me. I finished the painting in April and I have sold 15 art prints of it so far. It's going on exhibit in a gallery on May 29.

It is colourful and interesting! It has that country cottage craft / art feel about it. Very pretty and I can understand that it would be popular with those who like cottage art/craft. it would be lovely in a country home bedroom or kitchen and would enhance that type of cottage decor. I like it as I am a craft minded person and do enjoy folk art and cottage art. Lovely. Cheers. Debs. =))

Thank you! You've got it! That's what my idea was with this concept. Ofcourse Bearded Collie people bought the prints and framed them up in all sorts of different colors. I had lots of fun creating this. Took me exactly one month to get it all painted and assembled.

Re: The Painted Kwilt

The white writing across the top is copright. The writing within the painting are old Scottish quotes about the Bearded Collie and also the name of the woman who brought the dog back from near extinction in the 1950's.
