The Z11, WIP.
Hello, I am new to this section, I've posted on WC in the drawing & sketching section. This is an oil painting I've just started, 24"x20". I'm referencing a photo I took of a rare American musclecar. It's one of 3 ever made, a 1962 Chevy Biscayne Z11. It's my Brother-in-law's car. It has a "mystery motor" 409ci making over 530 Horsepower. It's had a full frame-off restoration by Boyd Coddington, finished in honduras maroon.
This is my layout, I use a grid to help with proportions.
This is my pallet, mainly red, blue, yellow, and some brown, white, and impasto.
This is after a few hours of painting. I haven't painted in 6 months, so I'm still knocking some rust off...

Lookin' good. I'm doing a similar painting, a '53 (I think) Buick 8, from a very similar perspective, so I'm interested to see your progression.

Re: The Z11, WIP.
sing a paper plate? know what i use? I use a piece of freezer paper in a paint tray...i throw the paper away and is very cheap to use...easy to clean up ..(Throw it away).I am looking forward to seeing this completed ...italmost looks like paint by numers..but a great start. It is confusing to me because it isnt the way I proceed ....Thumbs up...I learn something here every day...Thanks for showing us.

Foam plates work much better then paper plates as palettes .....

Thanks Judy, Alan, painter4life, freesail, Eveline. I use the heavy duty paper plates, they have a laminate and nice white background for color comparison.

Wow, that is awesome. The chrome on the front is outstanding. Thank you for the update.
