Red rose - finally finished
At least I think I'm finished. C&C appreciated. If you can see anything off that just blares at you, please let me know. I started this last summer and got stuck. I decided to go for it, good or bad, just to be able to finish it.
20" square x 1.25" deep gallery wrapped canvas with artist quality acrylics. This is from a photo I took. The photo is pretty grainy. I guess it's because of poor lighting.

Re: Red rose - finally finished
Thank you, Rob and Judy!
I am just getting ready to sign and get the back ready for hanging. I'll be signing on the bottom right side, I think. I normally apply brown paper with double-sided tape and add a hanger. Does this sound okay? I really have no idea if there is a "correct" way to do that.

The contrast is very dramatic - nice work here
Not sure what you mean about the brown paper?
I usually just add the hangers and wire - don't like a single, central hanger

Re: Red rose - finally finished
Maureen, thank you!
Here is the back of another painting I did, same size, same type canvas. I'm sure there's something wrong, but I'm not sure what. Is it not kosher to finish off the back of a painting?
I use the sawtooth hanger for a few reasons: 1. I "inherited" a whole lot of them; 2. I prefer this type of picture to hang closer to the wall; and, 3. I'm very careful to center the middle groove, so it should always hang straight if you hang it right.
I know a lot of shows won't let you use them, but I'll worry about that when I ever get brave enough to enter one. Let me know if you have some other reason to use the hooks and wires. I'm just flying by the seat of my pants here.

Re: Red rose - finally finished
I always use sawtooth hangers for my pictures for the same reasons you do...well, for the second two reasons, though for gallery purposes I have strung wire which you will find exceptionally easy to do.
What you've done with the brown paper looks fine by me.
Something you might want to concider is placing small bumpers on the corners so that they don't damage the wall when brushing against it.

Sandy - I thought that's what you meant, just haven't seen it done before - can't see why not though, unless the canvas needs to breathe It does look neat
I use D-rings and wire - they are hinged and lie flatter than the screw-in rings.
I also use (for myself) strips of foam draught excluder on the bottom to prevent marking the walls!
Those little plastic/rubber door stoppers would look more professional - perhaps I should use those!
