Frenemies
Haven't posted in here for a while! I've been doing a lot of collage work these days, so I post in the mixed media/alt media forum once in a while, but I miss this place!
This one is more watermedia (I think!), acrylic and hand painted tissue and rice paper on canvas. (just a smidgeon of recycled magazine paper too.)
12" x 24"
Comments and critique always appreciated!
Patty
P.S. you can read more about this painting on my blog!

Re: Frenemies
Patty! I LOVE this; what a great painting. Your crows are wonderful; love the warm and cool colors as the background and bottom!

Re: Frenemies
Darla, thanks! It was a real challenge for me to come up with that background. I was going to do it all collage, but I thought it might take away from the crows. So I decided to have the mostly acrylic sky and some collage for the ground.
Kay, it makes me happy that you like it!
Thanks so much wineberry and JayJay!

Re: Frenemies
Really interesting! I love the magazine pieces, are them glued or somehow transferred to the paper? I am asking because I would love to learn how to transfer newspaper articles to paper for background.

Re: Frenemies
Gianluca, thanks so much for looking! Those are pieces from an old nature book. The page was all about crows. I cut them out and adhered them to the canvas with Golden Soft Gel.

Re: Frenemies
Thank you Patty for answering, very kind of you!
I did more or less the same on a small canvas with tears from a Japanese newspaper but I used vinyl glue and I didn't like that the border of the tears where so evident... probably I should think on a way to transfer them to the canvas....
