The Pick Up Artist WIP

Hey Baby What's Your Sign?

14" X 17" Strathmore Windpower Drawing Paper
This iguana does not have a nice reflective eye. I usually pass when this is the case because the eye always is a disappointment to me. However, this character is an orange iguana and has all kinds of color and reflective scaling (if I can pull it off). If I can't get this to "pop" quickly (like by tomorrow), I'm going to pick something else.

I think the eyes are terrific Karen.. Sometimes, I hate a piece for a while before I work though it a while and keep adding layers. They say there is a period where they are ugly and then they take shape. I would love to see an orange iguana.

Re: The Pick Up Artist WIP

Thanks for the encouragement Clydeine.. this one has very different colors and it's tough to get the reflective look at the moment- colors that don't show as much contrast as greens, but I'll put some more time in and see if I can get it to pop. Thanks!

Re: The Pick Up Artist WIP

If anyone can pull it off you can Safari Jane -I would love to see an orange iguana and don't forget you can use the complementary of orange -blue, that should hopefully give you a bit more range if you use it lightly over some of the orange, just a thought

Also, if you know from which direction the light is coming in the reference I am sure with your skill you could place a realistic reflection in his eye?

I love your title

I'm strapping in for one hell of a ride!

Re: The Pick Up Artist WIP

Wow, you guys have more confidence than me right now.. he's an older iguana so he doesn't have that bright shiny as a new penny eye that I like so much, plus the light isn't hitting it, if it turns out, maybe I'll fudge with the eye some more ( ;

Re: The Pick Up Artist WIP

Look "n" good so far. going to be another beauty, I'll be watching for sure.
I've wanted to draw something to give to my hubby so I asked him to give me a short list of drawings he'd like and on his list he had a..... gecko , so I may end up drawing one of these lizards sooner then I thought.
Keep up the great work

Wow, Karen, another winner in the making. I think you could have a one-man reptile exhibition soon. Love the eye.
