Thanks katherine, I agree should be little more colour to the rocks and little darker to the fg. Funny , dont notice these adjustments until you get the ref photo and work side by side. James

Lovely running water, James, and the rocks a little darker, as suggested, would really do the trick!!  No wonder you wanted to paint this, it's a gorgeous photo!
