WDE 5th May Little Beach comber, Meg and Ember

Thanks for hosting Anne, I started a sketch book a few weeks ago and have not gotten back to it till this evening. I have just started using gouache and have a lot to learn but never the less I am pretty happy with these. I did them straight off the monitor and they are all on gessoed pages of a recycled recipe book measuring 14 x 18 cm and took 2 hours and 15 minutes in total. Sorry about what I did to your daughters ear, I only just noticed how large I made it.
Thanks for looking. All C and C welcome

Nice thing about gouache is you can paint over something you don't like.
Would never know you were new to the media. These look like beautiful watercolors with good strong color. Love them all, esp the dog.

Looks like you have learnt quick - these are wonderful. Love the book - does that mean you have given up cooking for painting? Isn't gesso wonderful.

Re: WDE 5th May Little Beach comber, Meg and Ember

Ha Ros, I am a lousy cook and I suppose it could be argued that I need the cookbook more than I need a new sketch book but I have no regrets. The book was called death by chocolate and just looking at the recipes I put on 5 kilos
I am enjoying using the gouache, I love how it flows over the gesso and its fast and forgiving characteristics really appeal to me.

I've got to try this gouache that everyone lately has been talking about. It seems to me I have some somewhere!!! LOL
I do love the cat best of all. Esp the eye...nicely done!!
I'm off to find a book to recycle like you did and turn into a sketch book for WDE's. Great idea.

All three look great, Christine! Looks like you've found an ideal partner in gouache!
I have a cheapo ( I have heard it's cheapo) set of Reeves Gouache I have never tried...maybe it's time I did!
