Re: Fountains Abbey North Yorkshire

Let alone the amazing perspective...the grass... the trees... the stone texture... that shadow on the left gradually climbing the hill side... how can you be so precise? The perfect dark without shine... this is unbelievable. How much time did this take?

...it's so much wow it hurts...

Re: Fountains Abbey North Yorkshire

Thank you all once again. I create the darks by using a carbon pencil--they produce an extremely dense black finish and no shine. If you use predominantly graphite (as I do, even unto 8B, which is still just a dark grey) then the carbon pencil should be used sparingly to emphasise only he most dark areas. These areas should be identified from the outset and either rendered immediately with carbon, or protected form graphite and rendered later on.
