Nah. I don't like to dress any part. My clothes are comfortable. I do have a shirt or two with a splat or two, and maybe a marked pair of pants, but I do not feel the need to broadcast "I am an Artiste!" to the world .

Also, I do not think that anyone who looks at me would say, "He is a programmer!" or "He's an electronics technician!" -- I'd probably drive Sherlock Holmes mad!

Re: What do you wear?

When I'm home painting I wear old track pants (sweat pants) and a T shirt but when I go out or to exhibitions I wear really bright colored clothes and lots of colorful jewellery which I make myself and I am often asked "Are you an artist" so I guess I must dress rather 'arty'. I just love color and that's why I dress that way. One of my favorite things to wear is a bright orange top with a turquoise blue overshirt and a multicolored skirt with turquoise and orange earrings.

I often wear a beret – does this indicate to one and all that I’m an artist? Beyond that, I wear skirts and dresses, i.e. anything out of the ordinary, in an effort to express something beautiful (and colorful). Of course, I wear a smock of some sort while I’m painting or making my etchings, but people rarely see me “at work” in my studio...

Re: What do you wear?

I live on the top of a mountain and its rare to see people walking by my house, but recently I bumped into some new neighbours strolling by my place and I looked a fright! They must have laughed their heads off afterwards I think. That particular morning I had my hair piled up, not on the top of my head but kinda jutting out from behind my ear at an odd angle, I was bra-less as usual, I had the usual paint splattered gear on and had taken off one shoe as I had a mosquito bite on the end of my toe, I also had paint on my forehead, and this is how I looked when I introduced myself, they did look a little taken aback but it was only later when I looked at myself in the mirror that I realised just how awfull I looked...I did tell them I was an artist!

Re: What do you wear?

Their dinnertime conversation that evening probably was about "that crazy artist on top of the mountain"
