Unicorn Cake

Title: Unico<br> Cake
Year Created:
Medium: Acrylic
Surface: Canvas
Dimension: 30 x 40
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

Apologize about double posting, but having technical difficulties with editing original post. Anyways, picture is much rawer than I am used to painting and think that it looks unfinished. However, the more I work with it, the less I like it. Suggestions appreciated.

Suggestions appreciated.

Re: Unicorn Cake

Well I like it. The composition is fascinating and you've done a great job with randomizing the positions of the horses. I notice that this is quite a big canvas and I'll still like the work if you leave it where it is, but I think in view of the size, you could work it more. Perhaps the idea would be to add hues. At the moment you're only using red. I could see, for example, working greens into the bg and/or blues and violets into the cake to coexist with the reds.

Re: Unicorn Cake

Hi Lynda ! This is definitely in keeping with your original and interesting fantasy style! I also like it a lot! Love that the unicorns are sometimes part of, but also apart from.... the cake! You have a unique unicorn style (pardon the pun) and I love unicorns! I do agree with Bob. Being such a large work, i am sure you could improve it with more colour and perhaps some detail in the unicorns faces would help? Maybe not all of them, but perhaps here and there to add some intrigue? Some hints of tonal Shadow here and there to give it a bit more 3D effect? Perhaps the flames could be more fire coloured and maybe add a bit of sparkle to the unicorns? Just some ideas you may or may not wish to play with =)) Great idea, just a little more punch needed. Cheers. Debs. =))
you can do anything you put your mind to positively.
