Re: Scratchy Corner 4/30 to 5/13
I have to buy some shipping boxes. I had known about Airfloat a little, but hear now there is a Masterpak. Has anyone tried Masterpak? They seem to be about the same as airfloat. I guess what I am asking is which is actually better regardless of price.

Re: Scratchy Corner 4/30 to 5/13
I haven't had the need to use either brand box yet, Sue, so I'm in the same boat for deciding which to buy. The shocker is the cost for the glass protecting skin! It's not that bad considering you get a good-sized roll (both Airfloat & MasterPak have it), but I have no need for that much of it. I'm going to see if my frame shop might have some smaller pieces I can buy.

Re: Scratchy Corner 4/30 to 5/13
I'm gonna have to pass on the glass. I just cannot take the chance on it breaking (plus the cost of good museum glass). I don't think everyone will glass theirs, so I won't be in the minority (hope hope hope).
Ann, maybe someone at the exhibition (you are going, right?) will buy some off you for later shipping. Just ask on here before you buy that much.

Re: Scratchy Corner 4/30 to 5/13
I'm still trying to come up with a way to frame mine without glass. The way I composed it, it definitely needs a mat, so I can't just drop it in a frame. And float mounting isn't going to look as spiffy for this piece. Maybe just for the exhibition, I can get away with no glass to cover the mat. I can always add glass after (if) it comes back. I'm definitely leaning toward that option; then I won't have to worry about the glass skin.
Oh yeah, I'm going to the exhibition! I can DRIVE to this one - that won't be the case for future get-togethers, I'm sure, so I pretty much have to go. Ooooh, oooh, twist my arm . . .

Ann...if you're close enough to drive there can't you deliver your piece and pick it up? Then you could use glass without worrying about it.

Re: Scratchy Corner 4/30 to 5/13
For those of you concerned about being the only ones without glass, I never put my work behind glass. And I know several others in the show will not be putting theirs behind glass. So you will not be alone.
I have used Masterpak in the past and I have been very satisfied.

Re: Scratchy Corner 4/30 to 5/13
I thought about that, Lorna (delivering the piece myself), but it's a four hour round trip - that's extra miles on my aging car, gas money and wear and tear on me. It would be three trips. One to deliver the art, one for the exhibition and another one to pick up the art.
Thanks for the info, Diana.
