Re: Peacock and Proud

Excellent black and white conversion. Works very well with this photo. (I'd also like to see it with the 18% gray mat as well to compare.)

Re: Peacock and Proud

I feel like I am being a copycat using the gray matt like yours. But I have to admit, it works so well with so many photos!

Re: Peacock and Proud

That's sharp. I am so used to seeing peacocks in color, I forgot what wonderful textures they have.

Re: Peacock and Proud

Fantastic image! It must be stunning at full size.

If it were mine, I'd play around (and probably mess it up - I never can leave well enough alone) with selective color. Might turn out interesting, or might be a complete failure.

Re: Peacock and Proud

Well, I stole the idea from Ansel Adams (some of his walls were painted 18% gray). Mid-gray works well because it is neutral enough to go with most things... color or black and white.

Re: Peacock and Proud

You know Lorell, Who'd a thunk?
I have tons of Peacock photos that I've done all kinds of post processing on, but I never would have thought to do one in B/W. I would have thought that it would be like having seafood at a steak house! One takes a photo of a Peacock because of it's beautiful colors. But I was wrong. Your photo looks terrific! I like it a lot! You bring out the pattern and the fine lines of the feathers that the bright colors usually overshadow.
Very well done!

Re: Peacock and Proud

Thank you all for the nice comments.

I too was suprised when I saw it in black and white...Okay, it was an accident. I was messing with the saturation slider and I yanked it all the way to the left voiding all colors and BAM, there is was, all of the details just popping out at me.

Thanks again.
