Trying to Find my Creative Self

Hello everyone
I joined Wet Canvas in hoping that I could become a little more inspired, learn more about art, and interact with other artists.

I like to use watercolor paints, but I have experimented with acrylic and oils. Oil paints would be my least favorite. Makes for a good painting, if you know how to use them properly.

I currently have ideas of what to paint, but the hardest part is getting started. Anyone else struggle with that?

Anyways, I hope to hear from you!

Re: Trying to Find my Creative Self

Hi Lainie, welcome to wetcanvas.

This is a terrific community and a wonderful resource, there are forums for just about every art and craft medium here, here's a full list of the forums.

As you are interested in watercolors I suggest you check out the Watercolor Forum The links in my signature will help with the forum and give links to lots of demos, articles, videos and free on-line tutorials. If you have a particular site problem, click on my name and send me a private message (pm).

There are many talented and generous artists in the forum who will love to share your art.

Introduce yourself in the "Daily Wash" in the Palette Talk forum - they are a great bunch of folks.

I look forward to seeing some of your work in the Watercolor Gallery, or in the Watercolor Studio if you need advice. Technical questions are asked in the Learning Zone.

There is a thread at the top of the watercolor Gallery showing how to resize and post your pictures.

Doug

Re: Trying to Find my Creative Self

Hi Lainie, I never know how to start, I'm a big procrastinator.
Looking through the forums always inspires me though and the Reference Image library is huge too.
Welcome to Wetcanvas.

Re: Trying to Find my Creative Self

Making yourself start is sometimes the hardest part. I know the feeling very well. I have been avoiding getting back into the swing lately. I have no excuse, but I'm sure I can come up with plenty! :P

I like watercolors too because it's easy to express myself with them. I will sometimes find some of my dreamy sketches and start with those, turning them into watercolor paintings. I keep a little journal near my bed of the strange dream-like thought I have when I'm sleepy. They make for wonderful imagery. You should try it.

Hi. Yes, I believe many struggle with getting started!
Begin to splash on some color and ideas will flow.
Be generous with your supplies. You're worth it.

Visiting often and enjoying the views should be encouraging.

Welcome.
