Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

Viv - I did the watercolor first for both the Grand Central sketch and the one of High Line Park. I do that most of the time...wc first, ink 2nd.

Debby - We had a lot of fun. Thanks.

Yesterday I sketched a house nearby. I liked the fence and the path.

Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

Debby - Thank you.

Doug - Thanks. I have a small Windsor & Newton field kit that I have had forever. I've refilled it with tube colors and have squeezed a few additional color pans into it. I use a waterbrush, but I also make sure I have a regular travel brush in case I want to do a dark color (hard with the waterbrush) or fine detail.

Rainy - Thanks.

We had a local carnival running here over the weekend. I had to stop and sketch it.

Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

Margo - Thanks. I love the carnival colors.

Debby - The carnival was calling me. lol Thanks.

Rainy - These were done in the Strathmore Visual Journal. Thank you.

EP - Thanks! They are a bit different from landscapes.

I started doing the Every Day in May on Flickr, so I'm going to include the sketches done for that.

Day 1 was to do a landscape. This is Short Beach up on the north shore of Long Island. This was done in my Strathmore journal.

Day 2 was to sketch something that related to a resolution I've made. This one was done in a new S&B journal that I'm going to use for the rest of the EDM sketches. I'll have to check which journal it is. It isn't one specifically for watercolor so I'm curious to see how it works. For this one there was a little buckling on the back fo the paper, but it was fine in the front.

The Patchogue Sketch Club met last night along the Patchogue River. We started about 6 but by 7 we were all freezing and headed home. (Usually we stay out until it gets dark.) I worked small so I was able to finish this sketch of a house and pier along the river.

Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

Debby - There is a Flickr group that does a challenge of 31 items to be sketched in May. You are supposed to sketch one a day and then post it to the group on Flickr. I did it last year and it was fun to do.

Here is my EDM sketch from yesterday. The item was free choice. I was out shopping at an outlet complex. This was the view out my car window. As you people know, I will sketch anything. lol

Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

LOL, that is sexy bikini. . . just in time for summer! Lovely landscapes and the exercise resolution is great. I have been trying to do that more myself, making myself try to find hills and steps and the likes when out walking the dogs or just around the office/town

Re: Joan's Assorted Sketches

Rainy - Thanks. I walk for exercise every morning as soon as I get up, but I know the weights are important too.

Debby - Thank you.

Here are a few more EDMs.

Again yesterday we had mostly overcast skies and misty air...not condusive to painting outside. I was determined to find a place to sit in my car and paint, and finally did.
