Re: waiting

Your fiddling is always interesting and done with a haunting beauty. In this work I want the space under the arch to have a sense of distance as opposed to a curtain. And maybe a yellow ochre or sage green sash/belt on the girl to tie her in. Fiddle on!

Re: waiting

Nice fiddling. Many interpretations. The girl resembles pippi longstockings.

This is faaaaabulous. Love the red-green palette and the girl reminds me of your work in 2008.

Re: waiting

The story is excellent here.

With such a good story, you can do more with the modelling of the figure, and with some of the other elements.

Fiddle on, La.

Re: waiting

Great range between this and Sunshower. I cant decide which is more to my liking. This has the ultra-modern illustrative simplicity and compositional grandeur I love, but Sunshower suggests a procession from rain to the distant glowing light. It is luminous and this has the grainy still surface. Both are excellent. Well done.

Re: waiting

treatment of the shadows is spot-on

as always, your paintings bring out the story teller in me

the sense of distorted scale really works, too, giving this a surreal effect, as if the story is a Tim Burton movie ( I mean that as a compliment, very high compliment)

The door as noted could use a bit of depth or wood or steel or ? or be a long dark hallway (maybe a little girl entering the ballerina school for the first time?)

as a last comment, the one shoe is very different than the other... intentional or not?

Thanx for posting, this pleaseth our eye, as always, greg

Re: waiting

I too, would like some more interest in the door. Not a lot, just maybe open the door in a crack and put a handle on it. That would lend mystery as well as give her something to expect. All is very good.

Re: waiting

Your concept is great but I think that you could do a little more with the girl. She pops out in a totally different style than the rest ot the painting like two different people painted this picture. Would you lose anything by spending a little more time on her?

Re: waiting

Pipi always had a hole or two in her stockings

Is it a door or a sealed off area?

Simple composition and pallet. Multiple story lines to make one think. Arnie

Re: waiting

I found a story for myself here. The door leading to "The Life" and a grown woman that is still hesitating to enter the door ...That's what my beer soaked mind feels .. I love this painting!
