I had to go back to look at your picture and she doesn't seem centered, but off to the side, so, I too, wonder what Johannes means and hope he'll explain.

Re: Johannes - Student Critique Posts Only
Maybe she is not "melodic" enough as a figure as opposed to a landscape ?? Its only my 3rd one and I am not experienced enough to say ..

Practice figure #4 ... I am hoping she is not a straight line ! I am unsure of different body parts so I kinda lost edged it all in ...save for one leg !!

I didn't mean straight line. Eventhough now that you bring it up that would be an issue. What I mean is the line of the figure was right in the center.

Figure # 3 ...I was able to make her dress doing the same brushstroke you taught us in the waterfall course. She feels undone and again I dont know where to go with this .....just trying something different .
Thank you for all the words of wisdom.

Now that is much better. She is very well placed now. That is just wonderful Donna. I like the looseness of your brushstrokes.

Donna, I love that painting it reminds me of the work of the Spanish painter Joaquin Sorolla, your free style is wonderful I've been watching the progress of your work and you're getting better all the time keep it up girl you're going in the right direction.

Re: Johannes - Student Critique Posts Only
I finally finished my new studio facing North that gives me a wonderful natural bright light, and have plenty of room for working in my wheelchair.

Nice studio - nice size - so neat - I have a small corner in my kitchen - hard to keep it neat. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Still the contour of her body lines up in the center axis but it is less obvious because of the curved line so that one is ok.

The undone impression is exactly what we want. Look at Pino's figures.
