No->Expressive Realism was before 1920 'modern' and mostly from (North)German ...
Yes->first i 'learn' that style & i would make an 'own' one, so it's new (not sooo depressiv like that one before first worldwar - mine 'fresher' and with 'life' and friendly colours ...) ... - but it takes time ... ;-)
Good example for that style & art what i like is from Andre KRIGAR (
