I like that you can not recognize right away what it is exactly and everyone sees something different in it...
A friend saw this as the entrance of a church & i see it as a Villa-entrance in the night, what it actually is.

and both are for me a golden cage

noge - THXS for your statement!
When i look like you, then you are right ... BUT i look different & shows on others ... - and by me there is another thing, that is 'interest' ...

• "In the distance it is going from nearly-formless to the mode of formalization"
• "It does not resemble the photo much... - 'Expressive Realism' style is/means loose and free - more of an interpretation than a realistic effect"

German neoExpressionism?

Yes and no!
No->Expressive Realism was before 1920 'modern' and mostly from (North)German ...
Yes->first i 'learn' that style & i would make an 'own' one, so it's new (not sooo depressiv like that one before first worldwar - mine 'fresher' and with 'life' and friendly colours ...) ... - but it takes time ... ;-)

Good example for that style & art what i like is from Andre KRIGAR (www.krigar.com) - there is also a video from pleinair-painting [or the link at the bottom-left from my signature "ExplanationVideo..."]
--> look there at his pictures ... ;-)
