Re: Hidden Pond

What an immense amount of work. After I had reduced the image (hitting CTRL and - together) I could see the whole work and then it seemed to me that the flower needed a lot more strength/intensity to stop it from merging so meekly into the rest of the picture.
Wonderful concept.

Re: Hidden Pond

Awesome scene, and I love the water! I do agree with Geoff that maybe the flower could have a few more darks to bring out it's true radiance and give it the pride of place in the work. It is the queen after all !!!! Absolutely love it though, great colour pencil work, such patience you have!!!! Well done. please post more. =)) Cheers. Debs.

Re: Hidden Pond

Thanks for the feedback. I have been working on the contrast in the flower as well as the upper left corner. Funny story on the flower. It wasn't part of the story until I spilled my coffee on the left side. Instead of trashing the whole thing I drew the flower over the coffee stain. Has anybody found the 8 bodies hidden in the picture?

Re: Hidden Pond

I think this is lovely and is certainly the product of alot of work. It looks a bit "light" and one is tempted to suggest more darks but I analyzed the work in Photoshop and it has a full range of values. It's just high key. And the value range IMO is what makes it so successful.

Re: Hidden Pond

I think that the value of the pink flower is too similar to the rest of the painting which causes it to lose it's flavor. I think that you need to increase the darks to bring it forward and seperate it from the background. You concept is wonderful an so very interesting. Nice work

Re: Hidden Pond

Marvelous detail and a tons of fun piece to view

played a bit in paintshop
i think you could pump up the contrast within the flower - If you want to separate the flower from the background more.
think i found all eight? (marked with white dots)

images explained:
original ... grey scaled
contrast enhanced 30% ... grey scaled

la

Re: Hidden Pond

Thank you everyone for your input. La, you found all the figures I had put in,though there may be some I didn't. Like your rendition to b&w. I had this professionally photographed and the photographer had a leaning towards lighter levels. I've been working on better contrast both in PhotoShop and on the original. I'm working on a sequel. Still in the drawing stage.
