Re: My Second Painting
Very good colors, intense impression of "community"!
In this style of painting, technically called "naïf", it would be better to avoid objects like "rainbow", because they are too ethereal, with a resulting too heavy appearance.

Work on your drawing and perspective.

Re: My Second Painting
Hi, Sarah. Your second painting, like your first, makes me very happy. That looks like a community in which I would like to live. Keep up the good work.

Re: My Second Painting
I agree with everything Eduardo F said above. I enjoyed the design and color here. What type of painting do you hope to do ?

Reminds me somewhat of Lowry's paintings.

Re: My Second Painting
I like it! Is that a Belgian Sheepdog in with the sheep?
I agree about the rainbow--it takes away from the rest.
The pink tree is a bit distracting to me. Maybe the darkness of the bush below it throws it off for me.

Re: My Second Painting
I think it's excellent! Love all the different things to look at, and I think the rainbow is great, because it drew my gaze back so I discovered the sheep. And it makes me think that this beautiful little town is the treasure you'd find at the end of the rainbow... makes perfect sense to me.
It doesn't look anything alike in style, but it gives me the same feeling as when I read Carl Barks' Donald Duck-stories when I was a kid - all the things to discover in the drawing.

Re: My Second Painting
Painting should be a pleasure, not a chore. You seem to be painting happy, wholesome and simple. Makes me smile.

I agree. I like the rainbow. I don't find it distracting because there is a small part of it. I like the perspective being off. It is a very fun painting and makes me happy. Is that a black sheep with all the others? Maybe that represents me since I am always disagreeing with other critiques.

Re: My Second Painting
I like it!
I want my paintings to be memorable and I think I'd remember yours!
I like the colours and the use of grey (UK spelling), but its the people that make your painting work for me. I also think the perspective adds interest - each to their own.
For a only second painting it will be interesting to see what your 20th looks like!
