Fiber Art Challenge - May 2012

There was the discussion to revive the monthly challenges several months ago. One was started in March, but we seemed to have missed April.

With the idea that many fiber arts require time, remember these challenges are open ended. Which means if you take on a challenge and finally finish it months (or years) from now, please dig out this thread and post it. (Or maybe just mention it in your thread when you do post.) Anyway, in the thread about reviving the challenge there was a yes to post a new one in May.

So, here you go. May in the northern hemisphere is the month of flowers ( April showers bring May flowers ) Your challenge is to make a bouquet. Any way you want to make it, a quilt, crochet flowers, an embroidery, needlefelt, a fabric collage. You decide. Looking forward to all your lovely creations.

Debby, I LOVE this idea of making a bouquet!

Now if we do a bouquet with water, does it fit for both March and May. hee hee

That should be an easy challenge.

Re: Fiber Art Challenge - May 2012

Ok here is my contribution to the challenge!

about 12" square, this began with a designer sample -- loose weave with the black curved stitching. I added an old leather glove, with stuffed fingers. Section of a fulled sweater. And needle felted flowers and hand-dyed wool batting felt. Instead of regular batting, I used a soft green sweater as I liked the color coming through the loose weave. Lots of hand quilting in two colors. Then the beading. Finally the machine felted border with buttons.

Your thoughts?
Jen

Neat Jen. What a lot of work on such a little piece but it turned out wonderful.

Thank you, ladies! Eva, you are right. It was a lot of fussy work, so to speak. But I carried it with me on my trip East, and while hanging out with mom, sister and nephews, I got all the hand quilting done. They are so used to me and my crazy projects in hand that they didn't bat an eye!
